ABRA Mine Site
The scope of the project first phase was to undertake initial bulk earthworks, construct bore road and access road, and provide a fly camp for construction of permanent camp bulk earthworks.
Works included:
Operating in a remote location
Provision of self-sufficient camp accommodation and satellite communications
Provision of on-site mechanical support
Clear access track and roads into permanent camp and process plant area
Strip topsoil and stockpile for future use
Excavate from cut areas, haul to fill areas
Excavate from borrow areas, haul to fill areas
Use of marginal materials for access road construction
Head works to obtain water from water bores on site
Working under the Mining Act and regulations
After completion of the permanent camp and access roads, we were contracted to construct the Tailings Storage Facility and the Aerodrome.
Works included:
Site preparation - clearing, grubbing, and stripping of topsoil
Earthworks and Pavements including foundation preparation and cut to fill from within graded Runway and Taxiway
Excavation of drains including shape to design
Import fill for Runway - Spread, condition & compact
Trim and Proof Roll to finished level graded runway, clearway, RESA and taxiway strips and drainage channels
Hard rock excavation
Supply and Install Windsock and Aerodrome Aids
Supply and install 1.5m perimeter high fencing including 6m opening double gates
Bulk earthworks to construct the perimeter embankments and decant facilities and installation of the Geosynthetic Clay liner (GCL) for the Tailings Storage Facility.
This contract is ongoing with regular maintenance of the mine’s access road network.
