Soil conditioning for new Brad TSF (Tailings Storage Facility) walls
Fortescue Metals Group Ltd operates an open pit mining and processing facility located in the Hamersley Ranges, 60 km north of Tom Price and adjacent to the north-west boundary of Karijin National Park, in Western Australia. With production forecasts projecting the existing TSF1 reaching full capacity by August 2024, a new TSF needed to be created at Brad Pit within the Kings Valley mining area.
Scope of works:
Carry out soil material conditioning at Brad Tailings Pipeline following Fortescue’s prescribed methodology.
Condition existing material provided at stockpile (approx 1,000,000m3).
Condition the material provided to the recharge stockpiles (approx 1,000,000m3) once existing stockpile is depleted.
Establish and manage windrows to ensure a delineation is created between conditioning work and the conditioned material stockpile.
Periodic load out of the conditioned material stockpile.
Set up temporary administration office and undercover equipment maintenance area.
Contract start : June 2024 and ongoing
