Earthworks

The site is located within the Iluka mining lease and was being utilised as farmland. Initially the site was covered with thick grazing pasture over a sandy surface, with much of the site inundated following a relatively wet winter. The site sloped gently down in a general westerly direction with a surface level difference of about 2 m across the site. The winter groundwater level was at surface level.

Scope included:

  • Site clearing

  • Facilitate the importing of over 70,000m3 of fill

  • Subgrade preparation of over 36,000m2 

  • Excavate & shape swale drains & batters

  • Rock pitch batter protection

  • Install reinforced concrete box culverts

  • Over 9000m2 of bituminous surfacing

  • Full road construction

  • Traffic control associated with works

Project value: $4.5 million
